This page has the entire list of spelling words for the year.  The McMillan McGraw Hill language arts program that we use here at St. Katharine Drexel School has a five week thematic lesson component.  On the sixth week I plan for writing lessons, review work, and assessments.  

 

The list below corresponds to the stories in which we read together in class and discuss.  Notice that the lists are based on phonetic patterns?  This will help your child recognize the spelling patterns/clues easier and to be able to spell more accurately throughout their writing activities.  

 

Use these lists to practice everyday, throughout the year.  The more familiar your child is with these spelling words, the better reader and writer they will become.
